Over the last couple of seasons, Bukayo Saka has gone from a future prospect to being an integral part of Mikel Arteta's project.

This calendar year alone, the midfielder has come up with seven goals and eight assists.

Four of those assists have come in the last five games as Arsenal continue to sit top of the Premier League table.

Expect the Gunners to throw a lot of money at the England international during forthcoming contract negotiations.

=8. Raheem Sterling – 15

One man Saka will be looking to emulate is England teammate Raheem Sterling.

The current Chelsea forward broke onto the scene at a similarly young age and has since become a top Premier League and international star.

Since switching the Etihad for Stamford Bridge, the 27-year-old has continued his solid form, scoring three goals in his last four league games.

Add his Man City numbers to the mix and Sterling appears to have enjoyed a decent year so far, bagging nine goals and producing six assists in 2022.

=8. Gabriel Jesus – 15

One man who has undoubtedly benefited from leaving Manchester City is current Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazil international scored just eight Premier League goals in his final season with Pep Guardiola.

Since moving to Arsenal, the 25-year-old has already found five goals and three assists.

Jesus is currently on 15 goal contributions in 2022 (11 goals and four assists), though expect that number to improve before the end of the year.

=5. Mohamed Salah – 17

Liverpool are not firing on all cylinders, and the same could be said about star striker Mohamed Salah.

Seven Premier League games have come and gone this season, though the Egypt international has only found the back of the net twice.

While Salah may not be hitting his own exceptional standards, he is still enjoying a relatively productive year, having scored 10 goals and produced 7 assists in 2022.

=5. Erling Haaland – 17

Since his move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City, Erling Haaland has been busy ripping up the Premier League record books.

The Norway international has already come up with three hat-tricks this season and leads the goalscorers charts with 14 efforts. More worryingly for the league's defenders, there are still 30 games to go.

In 2022, Haaland has the third most goal contributions in the world, if you include his efforts from the Bundesliga.

With regards to the Premier League, he is already joint-fifth with 17 to his name (14 goals and three assists).

=5. Dejan Kulusevski – 17

Tottenham's Dejan Kulusevski has also made the top five following a strong start to his Premier League career.

The Sweden international is currently out on the sidelines with an injury, though he still boasts good numbers in 2022, with seven goals and 11 assists to his name.

One major worry, not only for Kulusevski but also Spurs manager Antonio Conte, is the fact the forward hasn't scored in his last six Premier League outings.

4. James Maddison – 19

Leicester City might be having a poor year, but that certainly doesn't reflect on the stats behind James Maddison.

The midfielder, who is still looking to force himself into Gareth Southgate's World Cup plans, boasts 19 goal contributions for the year, including 12 goals and seven assists.

Maddison has already scored five goals from seven games in the Premier League this season. Two of those came on Monday night as Leicester picked up their first win of the season against Nottingham Forest.

3. Son Heung-min – 24

Looking at the latest odds and public opinion, Tottenham are not considered to be one of the main title contenders this season.

Nevertheless, two of Conte's players are featured in the top three of this list.

The first of the duo is South Korea international Son Heung-min. The 30-year-old has scored 18 goals in 2022 and also came up with seven assists.

The forward broke his recent Premier League drought by bagging a hat-trick in a 6-2 win over Leicester just before the international break.

2. Kevin De Bruyne – 26

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne is enjoying another stellar year for Pep Guardiola.

The midfielder currently boasts the second-highest number of assists in this calendar year, just two behind PSG's Lionel Messi.

However, with the Belgium international in insatiable form, expect that gap to close. De Bruyne has already produced eight assists in eight games, matching his entire total from last year.

1. Harry Kane – 29

One man who could potentially stop Erling Haaland from running away with the golden boot this season is Harry Kane.

The England captain has scored seven goals in eight games this term. What's more, he has found the back of the net in his last three league outings.

In 2022, the player scored 23 goals and produced nine assists. Interestingly, there are only three men who have scored more goals since January. Haaland, Robert Lewandowski and Kylian Mbappe all edge the England star.

3. Go Ahead Eagles won the KNVB Cup after 93 years/ 33,968 days

8. Tottenham won the UEFA Europa League after 17 years/ 6,296 days

2025 finally broke Tottenham Hotspur's 17-year trophy drought, as they won the UEFA Europa League. This was a monumental win, bringing the title back to North London.

The tense final against Manchester United saw a crucial goal from Brennan Johnson secure the 1-0 victory. However, the most iconic image was Son Heung-min, the club's long-serving captain, finally lifting a major trophy.

This season, Liverpool FC, Arsenal FC, Manchester City, Chelsea FC, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have already qualified for the UEFA Champions League from the Premier League.

How do teams qualify for the Champions League from a league?

Till the 2022-23 season, every top-four team from the European Leagues used to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Along with the top four teams, the Europa League winners also qualified for the Champions League next season. 

But, from the 2024 season, along with the top four teams and Europa League/Conference League winners, leagues started getting an additional European Performance Spot. EPS is awarded to the league with strong UEFA coefficient performances, which the Premier League earned this season as well.

Premier League teams to qualify for the Champions League every season since 2016

2015-16

In the 2025-16 Champions League season, Chelsea qualified as the champions of the Premier League 2014-15. Manchester City and Arsenal qualified as the second and third finishers of the league. 

Meanwhile, Manchester United qualified for the Champions League play-off round as the UEFA Europa League 2014-15 winners.

The European Golden Boot Race

The Golden Boot is awarded by European Sports Media (ESM) which is a unified association of Football Magazine publications such as Marca, Kicker, La Gazzetta dello Sport, Frankfurter AZ, etc. They took over since 1996-97 season and started a new ranking system based on the position of the league for the respective players. 

The UEFA coefficient ranking is considered a measure for weighting points, with the principle being to acknowledge players who score in leagues of higher quality according to rankings, which makes it tougher to find the back of the net.

The number of goals scored in the top five leagues of Europe are counted with a multiplier of two, while those from leagues ranked six to 21 receive a 1.5 multiplier, and goals from all other leagues are counted as one.

Blackburn Rovers, one of the founding members of the Football League, won the league twice in the 1911–12 and 1913–14 seasons. Leeds United, who also won promotion to the Premier League, won the first division in 1968–69, 1973–74, and 1991–92 seasons. They were the last champions of the Football League First Division before the Premier League took over.

7. Sheffield Wednesday, Newcastle United | 4 titles

Sheffield Wednesday, the second-oldest professional association football club in England, have won the league four times and are one of the most successful clubs in English football. They won the league in the 1902–03, 1903–04, 1928–29, and 1929–30 seasons. 

Newcastle United, one of the biggest names in English football, have spent 93 years in the top tier of English football. They and Sheffield Wednesday won the league in back-to-back seasons. Newcastle won in 1904–05, 1906–07, 1908–09, 1926–27.

6. Sunderland, Chelsea FC | 6 titles

Newcastle United's arch-rival, Sunderland, are one of the most underrated teams in tournament history. They were also the first winners of the Football League First Division in the 1892 season. Nicknamed Black Cats, they won the First Division titles in 1891–92, 1892–93, 1894–95, 1901–02, 1912–13, 1935–36.

Chelsea, one of the most prominent names in European football. Before the Premier League era started, Chelsea had only won the First Division league once in the 1954–55 season. But, after Roman Abramovich's takeover, Chelsea evolved as one of the strongest teams in the Premeier League. 

In the Premier League era, they won the title in 2004–05, 2005–06, 2009–10, 2014–15, and 2016–17.

5. Aston Villa | 7 titles

Although they have not won the league title in the Premier League era, Aston Villa are still one of the most successful clubs in England's top-tier football. In fact, it was  William McGregor, the Aston Villa director, who founded the Football League in 1888, which was the World's First Football League as mentioned earlier.

Not only that, George Ramsay, who was Villa manager in 1886, was the world's first professional football manager.

With 7 titles in 1893–94, 1895–96, 1896–97, 1898–99, 1899–1900, 1909–10, and 1980–81, they still remain one of the oldest clubs to remain in the top-flight football. 

4. Everton | 9 titles

Another club with great history and culture that lost the battle in modern football. Although Everton have stayed in the First Division of Football for more than 122 years now, is one of the three clubs to be a founding member of the Football League and Premier League.

Everton won the First Division titles in 1890–91, 1914–15, 1927–28, 1931–32, 1938–39, 1962–63, 1969–70, 1984–85, and 1986–87 seasons. This makes them the club with the fourth most English Top Flight titles.

3. Manchester City |  10 titles

Manchester City are the second most successful football club in the Premier League era. They have revolutionised modern football after Pep Guardiola took over the manager's role in 2016. 

Since then, they have won 6 Premier League titles, out of which four came in consecutive seasons from 2020 to 2024, which is a record in English top flight football. Before Pep Guardiola, it was Roberto Mancini, who led them to Premier League success in the 2011-12 season, the club's first league title in 45 years. 

Till now, Manchester City have won 10 titles in top-flight English football. Their success came in 1936–37, 1967–68, 2011–12, 2013–14, 2017–18, 2018–19, 2020–21, 2021–22, 2022–23, and 2023–24.

2. Arsenal | 13 titles

One of the most loved and historical clubs in England, Arsenal, comes in the list as the third club with the most English top-flight titles. They were the second most successful club in the top flight before Manchester United went past them in the Premier League era.

From 1931 to 1938, they won the First Division League five times in 8 seasons, which made them one of the most loved and feared clubs in England. In the Premier League era, they won the league three times in 1997–98, 2001–02, and 2003–04.

In the 2003-04 season, they won the Premier League without losing a single game, which is still a record in England's top-flight football.

After Liverpool FC's success in the Premier League 2024-25, they have now equalled Manchester United's record for most English Top Flight titles with 20 titles.

1. Ryan Giggs (Manchester United) | 13 titles

It's a testament to Manchester United's dominance throughout the Premier League's history that every player on this top-five list was one of Sir Alex Ferguson's former stars. Ryan Giggs comes at the top of this list with a record 13 league titles.

The Manchester United legend spent 25 years at the club and made 963 appearances. He was never a star or anything. Giggs was like someone who always gave his everything for the badge. He broke numerous records at Old Trafford, and the fact that he's lifted the Premier League trophy more than anyone else, is what sets him apart from the rest.

2. Paul Scholes (Manchester United) | 11 titles

One of the greatest central midfielders in Premier League and European football history, Paul Scholes tasted so much success at Manchester United. The Englishman spent his entire career at Old Trafford and won a remarkable 11 Premier League titles under Sir Alex Ferguson.

He was a star player and often considered the best midfielder to ever play for Manchester United and in the Premier League. The debate over whether Scholes was better than Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard is still going on to date, but if anyone judges by the numbers, then Scholes is miles ahead.

3. Gary Neville (Manchester United) | 8 titles

Gary Neville spent his entire career as a first-team figure at Old Trafford and won plenty of silverware during that time.

4. Denis Irwin (Manchester United) | 7 titles

Denis Irwin is another Manchester United great who won numerous silverware, including 7 Premier League titles at the club. Irwin is the joint-most successful Irish footballer in history, a record he shares with fellow Manchester United stalwart Roy Keane, having won 19 trophies in his career.

The left-back appeared in 529 games for the Red Devils and also scored 33 goals. Irwin brought the curtain down on a glittering 12 years against Charlton Athletic at Old Trafford in May 2002. He remains United’s second-most-decorated player, with 13 winners’ medals.

5. Roy Keane (Manchester United) | 7 titles

Interestingly, almost all of Roy Keane and Denis Irwin's success in the league came together, winning six of their seven titles alongside one another.

Sir Alex Ferguson labelled him the best he ever worked with, which speaks volumes. It is enough to consider Roy Keane as one of the greats of Manchester United.
