Tottenham Hotspur are now outside of the race for Europe. They will face top-four rivals Man Utd on Thursday and Liverpool three days later. Mason was appointed as acting head coach following the sacking of Stellini after less than a month in charge. After moving up to the top job on a temporary basis from his backroom role when Antonio Conte left, Stellini lasted just four games. He was sacked because of Sunday’s disturbing 6-1 defeat at Newcastle.

Mason will now take charge of the first team for the second time. He managed Tottenham in the 2020-21 campaign following the departure of Jose Mourinho in April of that year. Ryan Mason won four of his seven games at the helm. He then became the youngest manager (31 years) in Premier League history and has once again been tasked to steady the ship as Spurs try to get something from their hot & cold season.

“I am ready. I don’t doubt that,” Mason told a press conference on Wednesday. “It is business. We have a really big game Thursday, another Sunday, so the focus on my behalf is to fully prepare for that.”

“[We need] a reaction, absolutely a reaction. Sunday was disappointing. I would hope and expect a reaction from not only the players but everyone in the building.”

Spurs are outside of the race for a Champions League place and sitting six points behind Manchester United, who they will host on Thursday night. Tottenham have played two games more, before facing Liverpool.

Tottenham’s remaining fixtures:

  • April 27: Man Utd (H) – Premier League, kick-off 8.15 pm
  • April 30: Liverpool (A) – Premier League, kick-off 4.30 pm
  • May 6: Crystal Palace (H) – Premier League, kick-off 3 pm
