The Indian men's football team made a comeback from their defeat against China to secure a crucial victory against Bangladesh. They kept their hopes alive in the qualification battle for the next round of the Hangzhou Asian Games 2023. Captain Sunil Chhetri scored from the spot in the 85th minute to hand India all three points from the fixture.

After a disappointing 1-5 loss to China in their opening match, the Indian team faced some challenges, including a lack of rest and proper training sessions. They didn't complain but gave their everything in the field to register a hard-fought victory.

Sunil Chhetri, the captain of the Indian team, didn't want to talk about the preparations. He thinks that it won't be affecting their next game. "Let's not talk about preparations. After a game like this, you don't want me in trouble. Prepared or not prepared, boys here or not here, 17 players or 30, all that is behind us. We'll give all that we have in the next game. Whatever we talk about now will not affect us in the next game," he said.

Asian Games 2023: What happened in the game?

The match against Bangladesh was a thrilling contest from start to finish. The first half ended goalless as India couldn't capitalize on chances, in particular a triple save by opposition goalkeeper Mitul. In the second half, the match looked like it would end goalless after Samuel Kynshi's free-kick hit the crossbar. The Blue Tigers' skipper wasn't convinced. Sunil Chhetri converted the penalty to give India a deserving lead in the 85th minute. Igor Stimac's side managed to keep hold of their lead and bagged a crucial win, which will keep them in contention for the knockouts.

Talking about the game, captain Sunil Chhetri explained why it was such a frustrating game for them. "The game was a frustrating one, the captain says, "It was a frustrating game. We could've done well in the final third. But at the end of the day getting all three points was essential," he said.

India created a lot of opportunities for themselves. Despite creating chances, They couldn't deliver in the first half. It was still 0-0 after 60 minutes into the game. The match looked like it would end goalless after Samuel Kynshi's free-kick hit the crossbar. But in the 85th minute, Sunil Chhetri changed the result into a much-needed win.
