Hockey India announced their 18-member for the Commonwealth Games 2022, Manpreet Singh will be the captain of the team.

Commonwealth Games 2022 is knocking at the door. It will begin from 28th July in Birmingham. So Hockey India announced their 18-member for the prestigious Commonwealth Games on Monday. India is in pool B along with England, Canada, Wales and Ghana. India's first opposition will be Ghana. Their campaign will start on 31st July.

The announced 18-member of Commonwealth Games 2022 includes goalkeeper PR Sreejesh and Krishan B Pathak, defenders Varun Kumar, Surender Kumar, Harmanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Jugraj Singh and Jarmanpreet Singh, midfielder Manpreet Singh, Hardik Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Shamsher Singh, Akashdeep Singh and Nilakanta Sharma, strikers Mandeep Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Gurjant Singh and Abhishek.

Experienced midfielder Manpreet Singh will lead the team in the Commonwealth Games 2022. During his leadership, The team brought a Bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo last year. Defenders Harmanpreet Singh, the highest goal scorer of the FIH Hockey Pro League, will be the Vice Captain of the team.

Last year at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, India finished at fourth. But in the FIH Pro League this year, the Indian Team is all preparing for the success they had left last year.

After selection, the team coach Graham Reid is so much confident about their selected-18. He said, "We have gone with a tried-and-tested team for the Commonwealth Games. These players have the experience of playing top teams in high pressure games in the FIH Pro League which was a good exposure for us ahead of the prestigious quadrennial event."
