Hockey India announced the 20-member squad for the upcoming match against Spain in the FIH Pro League 2022. Bhubaneswar, Odisha will host the clash on the weekends; on 26 February and 27 February 2022.

Midfielder Manpreet Singh is the captain of the team and drag-flick specialist Harmanpreet Singh is the Vice-Captain. The team will witness a new player, young forward Sukhjeet Singh from Punjab. His performance in the maiden Hockey India Senior Men Inter-Department National Championship 2021 in Bengaluru impressed everyone. He was picked in the Core Group following his performance in the above-mentioned tournament.

Graham Reid, the Chief Coach of the Indian Men's Hockey Team said on the team selection, "We have chosen a balanced group to play Spain for this weekend and are looking forward to playing at home in Bhubaneswar. It includes another new debutant striker Sukhjeet Singh who impressed during the selection camp last month and has been working hard since selection in the Core Probable's Group. Spain has a new coach and will be keen to impress after losing to England. These games are an important step in preparation for what for what is a very busy year."

Manpreet Singh (C), Vivek Sagar Prasad, Hardik Singh, Jaskaran Singh, Shamsher Singh, Neelkant Sharma, Akashdeep Singh
