The Indian Men's Hockey Team faced a tough defeat against Belgium with a score of 2-7 in the second match of the 5 Nations Tournament Valencia 2023 on Saturday. Abhishek and Jugraj Singh were the scorers for India.
Belgium took charge right from the first quarter, swiftly scoring three goals by Cedric Charlier (1'), Alexander Hendrickx (10'), and Thibeau Stockbroekx (13'), putting India on the defensive.
In the second quarter, Belgium added another goal by Thibeau Stockbroekx (16'), while Abhishek (18') managed a field goal for India. Tom Boon (26') then scored for Belgium, leaving India trailing 1-5. Towards the end of the second quarter, Jugraj Singh (27') converted a penalty corner, bringing the score to 5-2 in favor of Belgium at halftime.
The third quarter remained goalless despite both teams exerting constant pressure. In the fourth quarter, Tom Boon (46') scored from a penalty corner, extending Belgium's lead by four goals. Alexander Hendrickx (53') added another goal later in the quarter.
Despite being awarded two penalty corners in the final quarter, the Indian team couldn't convert, and the match concluded with a 2-7 loss.
