Indian Men's Hockey Team got a big gift the very next day after winning the Asian Champions Trophy. They have moved up one place from fourth to third in the latest FIH Hockey World Rankings with 2771.35 points.

After winning the title against Malaysia, India has moved up to the third spot in the new FIH Hockey World Rankings of the International Hockey Federation. This improvement in ranking ahead of the Asian Games will boost the confidence of the Indian team. India (2771.35 points) overtook England (2763.50 points) to reach the third position with an improvement of one place.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands and Belgium are in first and second place in the FIH Hockey World Rankings with 3095.90 points and 2917.87 points respectively. This is the second time that India reached the third position in the FIH Hockey World Rankings. Earlier. the Indian team had secured the third position in the rankings after securing a bronze medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. In Tokyo, India ended its 41-year medal drought at the Olympics. Malaysia, the runners-up of the Asian Champions Trophy, retained their ninth position. In this ranking, Korea is at 11th position, Pakistan at 16th position. Japan, who finished third in the tournament, has moved up one place to 18th in the rankings.
The Indian team was trailing 3-1 at one stage against Malaysia in the final of the Asian Champions Trophy. But Harmanpreet Singh and Gurjant came out brilliantly in the third quarter to score goals. It was because of these players that Team India achieved equality in the match. After that, in the fourth quarter, Akashdeep Singh ensured the team's victory by scoring a goal. With the victory, Team India presented a solid proof of its preparations for the Hangzhou Asian Games.
