The men's field hockey tournament at the 1968 Summer Olympics was the 11th edition of the field hockey event for men at the Summer Olympics. It was going on over a fourteen-day period. It started on 13 October and culminated with the medal finals on 26 October. All games were played at the Municipal Stadium in Mexico City, Mexico. And this year India achieved Bronze in the summer Olympic Tournament.

Indian men's hockey team secured 4 wins and 2 draws in the group stages to each to the final stage. They conquered Australia in the semi-final and moved forward to lock horns with Pakistan in the finals. They played against Pakistan in the final and beat them 1-0. Surprisingly, the winning goal was a penalty stroke goal.
Team unity
Though they projected their team unity and spirit to the public. But the team was broken apart by politics, groupism and ego clashes in the months leading to the 1968 Mexico Olympics where Indian hockey's slide well and truly began.
