A Grand Start to the 70th Maharashtra State Championship

The State level Kabaddi Championship for the year 2022, taking place in Ahmednagar commenced on the 27th of December 2022. The first day of the most important Kabaddi tournament in Maharashtra started with a bang. With 26 matches taking place on the first day, we witnessed some of the finest Kabaddi action.



While the Ahmednagar Men's team successfully defeated the Kolhapur team, the women's team failed to stop the Kolhapur Express, with the latter defeating the Ahmednagar team with a staggering 27 points. The first day of the tournament brought some cutthroat competition between the Nashik team versus the  Mumbai Upnagar team in the women's category with Nashik defeating Mumbai Upnagar with just 1 point, the story repeated for the Nanded vs Beed women's team with Nanded defeating the Beed team by just 2 points.



In Ahmadnagar's men's second match, the team registered a record-breaking victory of 47 points over Hingoli with a stellar performance from Shankar Gadai. While the women's team from Pune, Sangli and Mumbai Shahar clean sweep victory with 40 points against Parbhani, Sindhudurga and Satara respectively. However, Mahendra Rajput with his extraordinary performance of 27 raid points and 15 successful raids led Dhule to a 13-point victory over Beed and became the 'Performance Spotlight' for the day. 



With 39 matches scheduled for the Day 2 of the tournament, it is going to be a crucial day for all the teams as they try to reserve their spot in the semi-finals.
