She knew that she cannot be a part of the Olympics during her pregnancy. Yet she chose to compete in the Olympic trials as she considered it to be a big win for her.

In an interview with Today, Lindsay Flach told, "To be honest, I was going to the tryouts and I was trying to keep it on the down low, because I just wanted to finish my career on my terms."

People had mixed reactions and criticism for the hard decision to compete in Olympic trials. Some people applauded and praised her while some criticized third and raised questions on the safety of her situation.

During the trials, the temperatures were increasing rapidly and it reached about 100 degrees but still, she participated in all 7 heptathlon events. In the end, she placed 15 out of the 18 competitors at the trials.
