The 2021 Wrestling World Championship is taking place in October in Oslo, Norway. Vinesh Phogat may not be allowed to participate in the tournament. Though she has sent an apology to the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), it doesn't seem like she will be getting the allowance to compete. Also, the WFI temporarily suspended her because of indiscipline during and after the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Previously, the WFI suspended Phogat as she denied staying and train with her Indian teammates. Also, she did not wear the name of the official sponsors of the Indian contingent Shiv Naresh. Instead, she chose to wear a Nike singlet during her bouts.

In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she was the top-seeded wrestler in the women's 53 kg category. But she ended the tournament in the quarter-finals after losing against Vanesa Kaladzinskaya Tiako. Thus she returned without a medal.

According to PTI, the WFI has already received her apology but her ticket to the World Championships seems a bit uncertain at this moment.

Phogat won bronze in the previous World Championships in 2019 but it is highly unlikely of her to even participate this year.
