Queen Elizabeth can not attend the Commonwealth Games 2022 opening ceremony due to her health issues. Her elder son, Prince Charles will be present along with his wife, Camilla and son Prince William at the ceremony. The Commonwealth Games 2022 will begin on 28th July at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.

The 96-year-old has been the head of the Commonwealth Games since 1952. She has suffered from mobility issues and sometimes she uses a walking aid. Hence, the Queen has skipped several events like the State Opening of Parliament event. Prince Charles and his son Prince William attended the event there too. Charles frequently undertakes overseas engagements on her behalf. He will read a message from the Queen in the Commonwealth Games Baton.
More than 5,000 athletes from 72 Nations will compete on the Commonwealth Games' podium from 28th July to 8th August. last month, Prince Charles welcomed the sporting spectacle as a show of "unity" in these uncertain times.
