The England international and Chelsea forward, Tammy Abraham cut ties with the London giants and moves to Italy. He will be playing under the former blues boss Jose Mourinho in Roma. The former Chelsea no.9 has signed a five-year deal with Roma. The Italian giants have brought their new no.9 from Chelsea at a cost of €40 million (£34m/$47m).
Tammy Abraham has told Roma's official website that he is ready to take on new challenges outside his comfort zone.
Roma is a club that deserves to be fighting for titles and trophies. I’ve had the experience of winning major trophies and I want to be in those competitions again – so I want to help this team to achieve that and get to the level where Roma should be."
"It’s a massive honour to be the No. 9 at this club and I just can’t wait to get started and to help the team."Tammy Abraham
Abraham is a product of Chelsea's youth academy who was at its best under Frank Lampard. He scored 30 goals in 82 appearances for the club. However, under Thomas Tuchel, Abraham fell out of the folds of being a first-choice striker in the starting eleven. It was pretty clear that Tammy Abraham was not in Tuchel's plan as Chelsea spend a huge sum of money in bringing back Lukaku as a no.9.
It is always emotional to see a homegrown boy go away to another place. As a result, Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia told Chelsea's official website: "Tammy will always be welcomed back at Stamford Bridge as one of our own.
