Asian Games medalist Roshibina Devi honored with best Wushu Sanda Player of the Year Award

Two-time Asian Games medalist Roshibina Devi was on Tuesday chosen the Best Female Player of the Year in Sanda category by the International Wushu Federation after a month-long public voting.

Roshibina Devi defeated Shahrbano Mansouriyan Semiromi of Iran (88179) and Wu Xiaowei of China (46753) to win the award with 93545 votes. In other categories, China's Yao Yang won the Wushu Taolu Athlete of the Year award with 69,656 votes. Wing Yung Lee of Hong Kong won the Traditional Wushu Athlete of the Year award with 71,679 votes.

It was a memorable year for Manipur's Roshibina Devi as she won a silver medal for India in the women's 60 kg Wushu event at the Asian Games 2023. She missed her chance to win the gold after losing 2–0 to her Chinese rival Xiaowei Wu in the final. However, Roshibina has upgraded her medal color from bronze, which she won at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.

On the other hand, Singapore's Zeanne Zhi Ning won the Wushu Taolu Rising Star of the Year award with 56,405 votes. While France's Flora Point was crowned Traditional Wushu Rising Star of the Year with 73,145 points.

Talking about the men's category, China's Lu Xiangcheng won the Wushu Taolu Athlete of the Year award. Yoan Benbedra of France received the Wushu Sanda Athlete of the Year award. While Australia's Sherman Mak was crowned Traditional Wushu Athlete of the Year.

Roshibina Devi received a first round bye into the round of 16 and her first round match in the quarterfinals was against Pakistan's Mubashra Akhtar. She reached the semi-finals by defeating Mubashra 2-0 and secured her medal. In the semi-finals she lost to China's Cai Yingying by a margin of 1–0, but it was still an amazing game.
