In 2022, Sportz Point went to the small town of Rampurhat, Birbhum in West Bengal, to cover the story of a cricket coaching centre that set out with a singular, noble mission: to provide a platform for underprivileged yet exceptionally talented cricketers who often go unnoticed in the rural heartlands of West Bengal. Fast forward to April 2026, and the Dream School of Cricket (DSC) is no longer just a "story"; it is a powerhouse dominating the underage cricket circuit in Bengal.
In a clinical performance at the Birbhum DSA ground on Saturday, the DSC Under-13 side was crowned District Zone Champions after dismantling Young Town Club by 87 runs. The victory ensured their passage into the C.A.B. Ambar Roy Under-13 Main Phase, where they are set to test their mettle against the best of North 24 Parganas, Nadia, and Cooch Behar starting April 25.

Choosing to bat first, DSC found themselves in a spot of bother early on but were rescued by a gritty half-century from Mahammad Sahil Mondal. His 52 off 65 balls provided the much-needed anchor, while Sahid Akhtar added a brisk 36 to propel the team to a defendable 157/9 in 35 overs.
The total proved to be more than enough as the DSC bowling unit, led by skipper Nairit Saha, ran riot. Saha’s spell set the tone, as he claimed 3 wickets for just 9 runs in a Player of the Match performance.
Rajjak Sekh was equally disciplined, bowling four maidens in his spell of 3/11, while Ashif Rahaman polished off the tail with 3/13. Young Town Club had no answers, collapsing for a mere 70 runs.
With the district trophy in the bag, the focus will now shift to the state-level challenge. Playing at their home venue in Birbhum DSA, the DSC boys will face a gruelling schedule against the winners of North 24 Paraganas, runners-up of Nadia and Coochbehar from 25th April.

DSC creating a legacy of their own

The victory is a testament to the "Dream School" model established in 2022 by Bengal cricketers Sumanta Gupta and Avijit Mondal. Supported by a technical staff including Ramiul Hasan, Krishnendu Bhuimali, and Mir Nasir Ali Santo, with mentorship from Anil Gupta, the camp has become a conveyor belt of talent.
The U-13s are now looking to go one step further than their U-15 counterparts. Earlier this season, the DSC U-15 team reached the Main Phase but saw their campaign end in heartbreak, losing a rain-affected quarter-final via a coin toss.
