In the mega auction of IPL 2022, the purse was Rs 90 crores. But for IPL 2023 it could be Rs 95 crores i.e. 5 crores more. There was a mega auction last year, this year's auction will be smaller. The outgoing BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, in his letter to the state associations on September 22, had mentioned, "The next home-away format of the men's IPL will take place. In which all 10 teams will play their home matches at their designated venues."

Meanwhile, earlier BCCI has cleared that IPL 16 will take place in India only. The report about this came out the previous day itself. A Cricbuzz report states that the BCCI and the IPL franchises have discussed about the IPL 2023 auction, in which they agreed of the date of December 16.

In the year 2020, due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic, IPL was organized in some places. It was organized in empty stadiums in three venues of the United Arab Emirates in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi. In the year 2021, the tournament was organized in four venues Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Chennai. But now the epidemic is under control and therefore this league will continue their old format of the home ground and the opposing team's ground.
