Rodgers was also optimistic about Jonny Evans' availability but both fullbacks Ryan Bertrand (knee) and Ricardo Pereira (Achilles) remain long-term absentees.

Erling Haaland and Joao Cancelo were removed at half-time of City's goalless stalemate against Borussia Dortmund. Guardiola later revealed that both had been suffering from a fever. Haaland was also "so tired" and carrying "a knock on his foot" according to the Catalan coach.
