Pramod Bhagat and Manisha Ramadass claimed two gold medals for India by winning their respective finals at the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships in Tokyo on Sunday.

Bhagat took to the court first, defeating compatriot Nitesh Kumar 21-19 21-19 in a 53-minute final in the men's singles SL3 category. This is Bhagat's fourth World Championship gold in singles and sixth overall in the marquee event.
On the other hand, 17-year-old Manisha made her dream debut by winning the women's singles SU5 gold medal by defeating Mamiko Toyoda of Japan 21-15 21-15. India has won a total of 16 medals which include two gold, two silver, and 12 bronze medals in the Para-Badminton World Championships.

However, the pair of Bhagat and Manoj Sarkar had to be content with a silver medal in the men's doubles SL3-SL4 category. The Indian pair lost a one-game lead as they went down 21-14 18-21 13-21 to Hikmat Ramdani and Ukun Rukaendi of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Manasi Joshi and Parul Parmar, who were in the finals in Basel in 2019, ended their journey with bronze after losing in the semi-finals. While, Krishna Nagar, the gold medalist at the Tokyo Paralympics SH6, missed the podium in singles after a quarter-final loss. But he won a bronze in mixed doubles with Nitya Shree. Manisha also won a bronze medal in women's doubles with Mandeep Kaur. In addition, Nitya Shree Sumati Sivan won three bronze medals.
