Serbia vs Switzerland: Match Preview:

Brazil are expected to win the group, but the race for second is still anyone's game. Switzerland sit in second after their three points gained from the win over Cameroon, while Serbia are on one after their wild 3-3 draw with the African nation.

As such, Switzerland hold the advantage, requiring victory to ensure a place in the knockout stage but likely needing just a draw as long as Cameroon do not beat Brazil. Meanwhile, Serbia must win to qualify and also see Cameroon drop points.

Serbia have extra motivation after defeat to Switzerland in the 2018 World Cup group stage saw them on the outside looking in, while the Swiss advanced.

Team News:

Serbia:

Serbia face an anxious wait over key defender Strahinja Pavlovic ahead of the crucial clash.

The centre-back was forced to come off in the 3-3 draw against Cameroon with an injury but is hopeful he can recover in time. If he fails to make it, Stefan Mitrovic is expected to deputise.

Switzerland:

Switzerland may recall the experienced Xherdan Shaqiri for the game against Serbia with Fabian Rieder most likely to drop out.

They do not have any major fitness doubts going into the match so will almost certainly go with their tried and trusted formula.

Serbia vs Switzerland: Head to Head:

The two teams have crossed paths just once across all competitions, with that meeting coming in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup.

Switzerland recorded a 2-1 win in that game, overturning a one-goal deficit in the second half, thanks to goals from Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri.

Serbia have conceded at least two goals in their last four matches in the World Cup while scoring just four goals in that period.

Predicted Line-ups:
