Tennis great Roger Federer announced his retirement on 15 September. He will say goodbye to professional tennis forever after the Laver Cup 2022. He has reached London for this ATP tournament to be held from 23 to 25 September which will be Roger Federer's last tournament. From 22 September, Federer will take part in a practice session with Team Europe. He will participate alongside other tennis greats Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray at the tournament.

"To my tennis family and beyond. Of all the gifts that tennis has given me over the years, the greatest, without a doubt, has been the people I've met along the way: my friends, my competitors, and most of all the fans who give the sport its life. Today, I want to share some news with all of you," Federer said in a statement.
On the other hand, fans are getting crazy to witness Roger Federer's last tournament. That's why tickets have become more expensive. According to The Sunday Times, the current secondary market ticket rate for Roger Federer's last tournament, Laver Cup, has risen to £59,000 (more than Rs 50 lakh).
Although, there are many speculations about his participation at the event right now. Ever since the knee injury, Federer felt that he would not be able to return to the court again. But he continued to practice every day.
"As many of you know, the past three years have presented me with challenges in the form of injuries and surgeries. I've worked hard to return to full competitive form. But I also know my body's capacities and limits, and its message to me lately has been clear. I am 41 years old. I have played more than 1500 matches over 24 years. Tennis has treated me more generously than lever would have dreamt, and now I must recognize when it is time to end my competitive career," He said.

Team Europe is gearing up for the 2022 edition of the Laver Cup with a dream line-up. Nadal, Federer, Djokovic, and Murray are known as the Big Four of world tennis. These four players have dominated tennis in the 21st century so far. Together these four have won 66 of the last 76 Grand Slam tournaments. Apart from these four, Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas from Team Europe will also play. Former tennis great Björn Borg will be the captain of Team Europe. At the same time, this team will face Team World. Former legend John McEnroe will lead the Team World.
