Dubai Tennis Championships 2022: Sania Mirza and Lucie Hradecka advances to quarterfinals

On Tuesday, Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza and her partner Lucie Hradecka progressed to the quarter-finals of the Dubai Tennis Championships 2022 in the women's doubles. They advanced to the round of 16 after defeating Demi Schuurs and Chan Hao-ching by 7 (7) -6 (3), 5-7, 11-9.

To take a 3-1 lead, the Indo-Czech duo upset Demi Schuurs and Chan Hao-ching straight on. Afterwards, their opponents rallied to force a tie. However, Mirza and Hradecka maintained their composure to claim the set in a draw.

In the second set, Schuurs and Hao-ching battled to capture it and extend the match to the super-tiebreaker. The Mirza-Hradecka pair who earned game cards for the WTA 500 competition, however, survived the super-tie breaker. As a result, they proceeded to the quarterfinals of Dubai Tennis Championships 2022.

With six Grand Slam titles under her belt, the 35-year-old is India's most successful female tennis player. Last month, she announced that 2022 would be her last season. Therefore, it would be thrilling to see her swinging her racket in the court and navigating her way towards the championship title.

However, in the quarterfinals, Mirza and her partner Hradecka will encounter Shuko Aoyama of Japan and Aleksandra Krunic of Serbia.
