Felix Auger-Aliassime clinches his first ATP title in Rotterdam

In the ATP Rotterdam final, Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated top-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas (6-4, 6-2) to win his first career title.

After receiving a distressing defeat in the Australian Open 2022 quarterfinals, Felix Auger-Aliassime Refused to bend his head to defeat for the second time. As a result, an inexorable Aliassime thrashed top-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets (6-4, 6-2) in the ATP Rotterdam final to clinch his maiden ATP title.

The 21-year-old Canadian was delighted to win the indoor championship after dropping his previous eight finals. After beating Andrey Rublev in the semi-final, Aliassime was irresistible from the very beginning. He got out to a fantastic start, breaking Tsitsipas in the first game and never looking back afterwards.

He saw things out with commendable composure after earning the first set with his aggressive serve and volley oriented gameplay. Aliassime showed no indications of nervousness throughout the match. He stormed to a 5-1 lead in the second set without confronting a solitary breakpoint. As an outcome, his unrivalled expertise and razor-sharp aces secured him both the match and the championship.

Felix Auger-Aliassime's words after the glorious victory

After the triumph, Felix Auger-Aliassime expressed his excitement via Instagram. However, he did not forget to spare his words in front of the reporters as well. According to him, "It is an amazing day for me to get my first title and especially here. I played my first ATP main draw here a couple of years ago. So it is right I won my first title here."

"I have a lot of good memories playing here in front of you. So thank you for making it a special week for me that I will remember for the rest of my life. It is the happiest day of my career, and hopefully, it is the first of many to come." he concluded.

The 21-year-old had failed his previous five matches with Tsitsipas, but it required him approximately 80 minutes to dispatch him this time, thus earning him his biggest career victory in the bargain.
