22-Grand slam winner Novak Djokovic will not take part in the Madrid Open 2023 due to a fitness issue, the tournament committee confirmed. One week ago, Rafael Nadal, who shares the 22-Grand Slam record with Novak, pulled himself out of the tournament due to the hip injury he suffered in Australian Open 2023.
Although Novak did not give any specific pointers on his fitness, he did mention his elbow injury recently before the Srpska Open 2023.

With French Open starting on the 28th of May, the 35-year-old Serbian tennis star will look to get back from the tough times he had in the last month. Novak lost in the round of 16 at Monte Carlo to Lorenzo Musetti. Then, on Friday, he lost to Dusan Lajovic in straight sets in the Srpska Open quarter-finals.
So, the three-time Madrid Open winner, Novak will surely want to take some time off the court and get his rhythm back for the French Open next month.
