In the latest tennis news, French tennis star Gilles Simon has announced that he will retire at the end of the season. Gilles Simon had won the Davis cup 2017 with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Richard Gasquet.

Gilles has won 14 titles in his career and he was ranked sixth in 2009, his best in his career. However, he is currently ranked 158 in ATP Rankings. Gilles Simon had reached the quarter-finals of 2009 Australian Open. Meanwhile, his career high is Wimbledon was in 2015 when he had reached the quarters of the tournament.

The Frenchman has played for 20 years at the professional level. He always had the fight in him to beat the big boys of the tennis with his sheer game plans and spirits. In addition, Gilles had the stamina to di deep into opponent's weakness.

"It was a magnificent adventure, marvellous and extraordinary. It will stop at the end of the year," Gilles said on Twitter.  "There's no sadness, no regrets. Only my will to give everything I have left. In every game, until the end." the Frenchman added.
