Third-seeded Russian player Medvedev defeated Alcaraz 7-6 (7/3), 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in a thrilling match that lasted three hours and 19 minutes on the Arthur Ashe Stadium. With this victory, Medvedev also avenged his defeat against Alcaraz in the Wimbledon semi-finals. Alcaraz defeated Medvedev 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 in the Wimbledon semi-finals. Alcaraz was also the defending champion of the US Open 2022.

Medvedev will face world number two Novak Djokovic of Serbia in the US Open 2023 final. This will be a rematch of the 2021 US Open final. In 2021, Medvedev dashed Djokovic's career Grand Slam hopes by defeating him in the final.

After winning the first set in the tie breaker, the second set was easily won by Medvedev 6-1. Alcaraz made a strong comeback after this in the third set, taking the match to the fourth set. After that, Medvedev won the match 6-3. However, it will not be easy for him to defeat Djokovic, who recently defeated Alcaraz in a fun and tough match in the final of the Cincinnati Masters. Djokovic defeated America's Ben Shelton in consecutive sets 6-3, 6-2, 7-6 in the US Open 2023 semi-finals.

Meanwhile, 36-year-old Djokovic reached the US Open final for the seventh time. The match against Shelton was also his 100th match in this Grand Slam tournament. He looked very happy after the victory. If he wins the US Open 2023 final, he will become the oldest player to win the US Open in the Open Era. Moreover, with this, he will also equal Margaret Court's record of winning the most Grand Slams for men and women. He will take the court for the 24th Grand Slam title. This Serbian player has also won 22 of his last 23 Grand Slam semi-final matches.
