After 7 years the National Games are now being held in Gujarat, Narenda Modi participated in the grand opening ceremony held in Ahmedabad yesterday and inaugurated the competitions for the National Games 2022.

In this case, the 10m air rifle shooting final for girls was held today. In this tournament, Ilavenil Walarivan from Gujarat state was performing well from the start of the first round. In the end there was a tie between him and Thilothama Sen.

This was followed by a shoot off to decide the winner. Ilavenil scored the most points in it. Due to this, he won the gold medal and was amazing. Thilothama Sen won the silver medal. Mehli Ghosh won 3rd position and won the bronze medal.

A native of Tamil Nadu, Ilavenil Walarivan moved to Gujarat from a young age. He has been participating in national level shooting competitions on behalf of the state. Representing the state of Gujarat, he won another gold medal.

Earlier, the women's 49 kg weightlifting competition was held. Olympic silver medalist Mirabai Chanu participated in it. He was amazing from the start. In total, Chanu lifted 191 kg in both clean and jerk and snatch categories. 

"I was so excited to shoot because it has been so long since I got to shoot in an event of this magnitude. The fact that this was my home ground and I had so many known faces around made it all the better. Tilottama is a very good shooter. I have seen her for the past few months, and she has been shooting at the top level," Elavenil said after the match. 

This was just the first day of action in National Games 2022, with positive outcomes for states like tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Both contingents will look to add more medals to their tally of glory.
