Ahead of the Asian Games 2023, the Indian Sports Ministry has sent six Greco-Roman style wrestlers to Romania for special training.

All these wrestlers will show their strength for India in the Asian Games 2023 after special preparation for 15 days. The Sports Ministry, through its special scheme 'Assistant NSF Scheme', sends sportspersons abroad for special training at their own expense and these wrestlers have also been sent to Romania under this scheme.
Along with the wrestlers, three members of the support staff have also gone to Romania. Here wrestlers will take part in the competition along with training. This will also give them match practice before the Asian Games 2023 and preparation will be better. Greco-Roman style wrestlers Ion Cornianu and Ladislau Simon will compete from August 18 to 20.
The Indian wrestlers will stay in Romania for 15 days and the entire expenditure during this period will be borne by the Sports Ministry. This includes the cost of team training, boarding/accommodation, airfare, visa and pocket money. Among the Indian wrestlers who have been sent to Romania, one has reached the national level through 'TOPS Scheme' and two wrestlers have made it to the national team through Khelo India Games.
The Asian Games 2023 will be held in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8.
