Fast bowler Deepak Chahar featured in the last match and bowled a decent spell. Rachin has been dropped in the previous two games as he was continuously struggling to score runs. Rahane has opened with Ruturaj at the top but has failed to contribute much. Skipper Ruturaj has impressed with his calm and composed batting and captaincy. He is the top run scorer of Chennai this season, contributing with 447 runs at an average of 63.85. Shivam Dube is scoring at a sensational strike rate in every match this season. He has been one of the most important players for CSK, scoring 350 runs already this season. The five-time champions will be hoping for the same from him on Wednesday as well. Daryl Mitchell finally broke the ice, scoring his first IPL half-century in the previous game.

MS Dhoni has scored runs whenever the team have needed him. He isn't looking like a 42-year-old, especially with his keeping and batting. Shashank Singh scored 68 runs in only 28 deliveries and this is not the first time he has played this type of inning this season. Ashutosh Sharma has shown what he can do and he has been brilliant as a finisher for the Kings. Sam Curran has performed decently this season. His contributions in both departments are vital to PBKS.

Harshal Patel has conceded lots of runs but has scalped 14 wickets as well. Kagiso Rabada is the main strength of Punjab's bowling unit but the Proteas seamer has also struggled in some games.

Arshdeep Singh has bowled well and is one of the most important players for Punjab. He has been selected for the T20 World Cup 2024 as well so he will try to prove his worth more when PBKS meets Chennai at Chepauk.
