Preparations are on in full swing for the Asian Games 2023, starting on September 23 in Hangzhou, China. There will be a total of 634 players in the Indian contingent for these Games. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) has given its approval on Friday.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) recommended the names of 850 players for the Asian Games 2023, out of which only 634 were approved. All the players from India will participate in 38 events. This time the Asian Games are being organized in China and these games will run from 23 September to 8 October. The last Asian Games event was held in Jakarta in the year 2018, when there were 572 players in the Indian contingent.

Meanwhile, wrestler Bajrang Punia's name is also included in the names of players approved by the ministry for the Asian Games 2023. Punia will compete in the 65kg category. Although, he did not attend the trials, the ad-hoc panel of the IOA recommended Bajrang's inclusion in the Indian team without trial, which has been approved by the ministry.

About 65 players from India will fight for medals in track and field events in the Asian Games 2023. In which 34 are men's athletes, while 31 will be women's athletes. At the same time, there will be 22 players in the women's football team. Similarly, India's men's football team will have a squad of 22 players. In this way, India will have a total of 44 players in football. After that, the Indian hockey team is at number three. India has 36 players in the hockey team. 18-18 players have been selected in India's men's and women's hockey team. In this way there is a team of 36 players.

On the other hand, 15-15 players have got a place in the Indian men's and women's cricket team. In this way there will be a total of 30 Indian players in cricket. Apart from this, shooting and rowing will have 30 and 33 players respectively. Apart from these sports in the Asian Games 2023, all eyes will be on star wrestler Bajrang Punia and chess grandmaster Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa. Talking about other sports, Indian players will strive for medals in weightlifting, gymnastics, handball, and rugby. However, it will be interesting to see how the Indian players fare in the Asian Games 2023.
