Jyothi Yarraji to train in Spain as part of the preparations for the Paris Olympics 2024

The MOC also approved the proposal of Indian badminton players Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy to provide financial assistance to the sparring pair for training before the Paris Olympics 2024.

Asian Games medalist Jyothi Yarraji's proposal to train in Tenerife, Spain before the Paris Olympics 2024, got approval from MOC on Thursday. According to the MOC of the Sports Ministry, she will train in Spain for 45 days. The government will bear Jyothi's airfare, boarding, visa application fee, sports massage expenses, local transportation expenses, and other expenses including allowances.

The MOC also approved the proposal of Indian badminton players Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy to provide financial assistance to the sparring pair for training before the Paris Olympics 2024. The duo will train with Scotland's Alexander Dunn and Adam Hall in Mumbai in June and then with Indonesia's Rain Agung and Berry Agriawan in Hyderabad in July. The government will also bear the air travel and boarding expenses of these two pairs.

Razia Dhillon and Rajeshwari Kumari to train abroad as well

MOC also approved the proposal of Indian shooters Raiza Dhillon and Rajeshwari Kumari to train abroad. Raiza will train with her personal coach while Rajeshwari will train with coach David Kostelecky in Italy. Apart from that, MOC approved the proposal of para shooters Rahul Jakhar and Rubina Francis to participate in the upcoming WSPS World Cup in Changwan, South Korea. TOPS will be funding their entry fees, the entry fee for their coach, their boarding/lodging cost, local transport cost, expenditure for their gun permit, flight tickets, Visa, Insurance, and OPA.

Jyothi Yarraji is India’s national record holder in women’s 100m hurdles and won the gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championships in Bangkok and a silver at the Hangzhou Asian Games last year. Yarraji started 2024 with a top podium finish in women’s 60m hurdles at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships held in Tehran and will be looking to build up momentum ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024 in a bid to cut the upcoming Summer Games.
