India's famous shuttler PV Sindhu has won another title, this time at the Swiss Open 2022, defeating Busanan Ongbamrungphan with remarkable ease.

On Sunday at the St. Jakobshalle venue in Basel, the two-time Olympic medalist won the final in straight games with a score of 21-16, 21-8. In 49 minutes, she had won the match. This is her third Super 300 championship, with the other two being won in India.

PV Sindhu added the finishing touches with a solid 21-8 win in the second game

Sindhu and Ongbamrungphan were neck to neck early on in the first game. They both kept whittling away at the modest leads the other had taken. Sindhu had a 7-5 lead until her opponent won a long rally and tied the game at 9-9. Sindhu, on the other hand, led by two points at halftime. After the break, things went on in a similar pattern for a while till Sindhu took the lead at 15-13.

Sindhu then went through the motions, and the game was over at 21-16, with no further concerns. The Indian came out hot in the second game, sprinting to a 5-0 lead and then extending it to a 7-point lead. She was up 11-2 in the second game at the time of the break. With a convincing 21-8 triumph in the second game, the powerful Indian shuttler stamped her authority on the game and put the finishing touches on the final of the Swiss Open 2022.

Sindhu also won the Syed Modi International championship in Lucknow earlier this year. PV Sindhu's first BWF title came after she won the badminton world championships in 2019 after losing in the finals of the Swiss Open and the BWF World Tour Finals last year. Sindhu's coach, Park Tae-sang, made it clear at the outset of the year that he wants her to win trophies. Sindhu needed to win, according to the coach, in order to regain her confidence in her ability to win.

Meanwhile, HS Prannoy did not have the same luck as Sindhu in the men's singles final of Swiss Open 2022, losing 21-12, 21-18 to Indonesia's Jonatan Christie.
