Indian shuttler PV Sindhu booked her tickets into the quarter-finals of Swiss Open 2022 after defeating Turkey's Neslikan Yigit. She won the women's singles 21-19, 21-14 and advanced to the quarter-finals in Basel on Thursday.
She started the match with an impressive lead 6-3 and beat the World No. 30 quite comfortably. Neslikan Yigit was also fighting hard and also at some point she was leading 11-9. However, Sindhu bounced back harder and ended the nail-biting first set with 21-19.
The two-time Olympic medalist was dominating since the beginning of the second set. Yigit failed to defend Sindhu's powerful smashes and Sindhu ended the set with 21-13 and entered the quarter-finals of Swiss Open 2022.
She will next face China's Neslihan Yigit in the second round later on Thursday.
