PV Sindhu has succeeded in the second phase of her campaign to build herself up ahead of the Commonwealth Games. She has reached the quarterfinals of the Singapore Open 2022 Super 500 badminton tournament. The world No. 7 has defeated Nguyen Thuy Linh of Vietnam in the second round of the women's singles category on Thursday. On the other hand, HS Prannoy also won against Taiwan's Chou Tien-Chen and took his place in the quarterfinals.

The two-time Olympic medalist, Sindhu has dismissed 58 ranking Nguyen Thuy Linh by 19-21, 21-19, 21-18 score. Sindhu started the game badly, lost her first game. However, she was patient and calm in next two games and magnificently won both of them. The match was an extremely close-contested one and lasted one hour, six minutes. Previously, Sindhu defeated Belgium's Lianne Tan by 21-15, 21-11 to reach the second round.
On court 2, India's Thomas Cup hero, HS Prannoy showed his exceptional avatar and defeated Chou Tien-Chen by 21-14, 20-22, 18-21. He lost the first game but bounced back to win the next two games and seal the match which lasted one hour and nine minutes. Prannoy had reached the second round after a win over Thailand's Sitthikom Thammasin by 13-21, 16-21.
Later in the day, Saina Nehwal and Ashmita Chaliha will face He Bingjiao of China and the team of MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila will also be in action.
