Both Saina Nehwal and Malvika Bansod announced not to participate in the trials. Aakarshi and Ashmita Chaliha will now compete for selection in singles.
The Senior Selection Committee of the Badminton Association of India had a virtual meeting on 25 December in which players participating in the trials were selected to select the team for the Asian Championships.
The pair of Satwik and Chirag produced a stellar performance this year, winning two World Tour titles in the form of the Indian Open Super 500 and the French Open Super 750. Since then they have not dropped out of the top 10 rankings.

Saina Nehwal took just 38 minutes to clear the first match hurdle at the BWF World Badminton Championships 2022 in Tokyo. However, Saina will not have to play in the second round. she will directly play the third round as her second-round opponent Nozomi Okuhara of Japan has withdrawn from the competition.
