Koushik Ghosh has been in the news of bengal cricket for last few weeks. 4 tons and 1 double century in the CAB 1st disvion league matches has helped me make a comeback in the Ranji Trophy squad. But making that comeback in the team was never an easy ride for him. The left-hander shared his story in an exclusive interview with Sportz Point.
Koushik is famously known as "Adams" or "Adu" in Bengal cricket. Along with that he is known for his tremendous ability to fight for his wicket. It is his zeal and metal toughness that gave him the nod ahead of his competitors. "The main thing is my mental toughness. I think that is my strength as a human being and as a player as well," Koushik said.

But it does not matter how tough you are within yourself, the situations never support you when the time is not right for you. It is when someone pats on your back says you to keep doing what you do best, score runs. Abdul Monayem, Coach of Bhawanipore Cricket club was that support for Koushik.
"I am really thankful to Abdul sir and team. At the start of the season I was not scoring enough runs. At that time Abdul sir helped me a lot. He told me that I was batting well but I was lacking concentration in my game. So, I kept on working on myself and kept getting better," Koushik added.
After getting dropped from the Ranji team, Koushik's main aim was to score runs and lots of runs. With all the noise in the outside, he was determined to make a much needed comeback. "Look I never think about things that is not in my control. I always believed that if I am not getting selected or getting dropped that means may be I am not doing enough. I feel if scoring 100 is not enough, I need to score more. This is the mentality I have," the southpaw told.
However, saying all of these things is one thing and scoring those big runs is another. Koushik always had the nack of scoring big daddy hundreds. He believes that it is his knowledge of his own limitations that makes it easier for him to play for longer period.
"Look, I know my limitations. I know what shots I can play and what shots I need to avoid. So, when I have limited shots in my book, I generally have lesser chance to get out. I wait for the bowlers to come to my strength so I can score freely."
Generally a top-order batter Koushik can be useful at any position in the batting line-up. When asked about his preferred batting position Koushik said, "It does not matter to me. The only thing that I want to focus is how can I contribute to team's success. It does not matter where I am batting till the time I am contributing to team's cause."
Although Koushik will be joining the Bengal team with loads of runs behind him, he feels it does not matter how many runs he has scored in the past, he will have to start from zero. "I never think of things like momentum. Yes, when you score runs, you feel confident, but you always start from zero even when you score 200 in the last game. So, being in the present is very important for me," he added.

Keeping personal achievements aside, Koushik is now only focused to win the illusive Ranji trophy for Bengal. "We have a great side on paper. If we can play according to our potential, we can surely win the Ranji tropy," Koushik sounded very confident in his voice.
"Moreover, my goal is to contribute to team's success anyhow possible. If I get the opportunity, I will do everything in my capabilities to bring sucess for the team," he added further.
