Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz have been traded from Gujarat Titans to Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2023.

Lockie was bought by Gujarat for Rs 10 crore at the 2022 IPL mega auction. He finished last season with 12 wickets in 13 matches at an economy rate of under 9. Lockie was part of the KKR set-up after the two-time IPL champion signed him at the 2019 IPL auction. But he was released before the mega auction earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan's Gurbaz - Jason Roy's replacement and the reserve opener - didn't get any game time.

"New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson has been traded from Gujarat Titans to Kolkata Knight Riders for the upcoming TATA IPL 2023. He played 13 matches for Gujarat Titans and picked 12 wickets that included a 4-wicket haul."

"Kolkata Knight Riders have also traded Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz from Gujarat Titans. He was included in the Gujarat Titans squad in the 2022 TATA IPL edition as a replacement for England batter Jason Roy but did not play any game last season," the statement added.

Earlier, Australia's left-arm fast bowler Jason Behrendorff returned to Mumbai Indians after Royal Challengers Bangalore traded him. He was acquired by Royal Challengers at the 2022 auction for his base price of Rs 75 lakh. However, he didn't play a single match.

The auction for the 2023 season will be held in Kochi on December 23. It will be a mini-auction, unlike the mega auction before the 2022 edition. In addition to the money left over from their previous auction purse and the value of the players they release, each team will have an additional Rs 5 crore to spend, taking the overall purse tally to Rs 95 crore.

Kolkata Knight Riders had Rs 0.45 crore left over after the last auction. Defending champion Gujarat Titans were left with Rs 0.15 crore

IPL is no stranger to seeing some of the marquee names of the game biding their time on the benches, waiting for the right conditions or combination to make it to the playing XI.

Moeen Ali, a two-time World Cup winner for England and a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad in the IPL 2025, was not named in the playing XI against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) match. South Africa pacer Anrich Nortje has replaced him. However, Chasing a target of 112 runs yesterday, KKR lost by 16 runs. The entire batting was a disaster.

Coincidentally, Moeen has figured in three of the Knights’ seven matches so far and KKR won all those 3 games. He also scalped three wickets with an economy rate of 5.37. Embarrassing defeat for KKR

Kolkata Knight Riders have played seven matches in the league phase of the IPL.They have 6 points from 7 matches after half of the campaign.

After defeating Chennai Super Kings in Chennai, KKR was close to reaching the top of the points table in the Punjab Kings match. However, all plans were ruined due to the embarrassing defeat. KKR currently has 2 home matches ahead of them.

In the current situation, to make it to the playoffs, they have to win at least four matches. If they win five, can be a little more confident. So, KKR will be looking to win four home matches.

Chris Gayle has the record for the fastest century for RCB with a 30-ball hundred against Pune Warriors India (at Bengaluru on 23 April 2013).

Suryakumar Yadav completed a special half century for Mumbai Indians on Friday. After this, he became just the eighth player to play 100 IPL games for the Mumbai Indians. The other players to achieve the feat are Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Harbhajan Singh, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Ambati Rayudu. 

To mark the occasion, SKY was presented with a special customized jersey before the match. A two-time winner of the IPL with Mumbai Indians in 2019 and 2020, Suryakumar is one of only three batters to score 3000 runs for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

Ravindra Jadeja is third with 190 IPL games to his name with the Super Kings. Dwayne Bravo also joins the list for the Chennai Super Kings with his 130 appearances. Ravichandran Ashwin is fourth with 125 IPL games to his name with CSK.

Gautam Gambhir, who led KKR to two IPL titles, is third with 122 matches to his name. Swashbuckling all-rounder Yusuf Pathan also played a total of 122 games for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
