There will be 9 players from Cricket Association of Bengal in IPL 2024 Auction

IPL 2024 Auction will take place on 19th December 2023 in Dubai and a total of 333 players have been listed for the mini-auction. Among them, 214 are Indian players including 8 players from Cricket Association of Bengal. Already five players from Bengal have been retained by the IPL teams and now with 9 to go under the hammer, we give you all the details you should know about them, before the auction.

Ishan Porel | Right-hand pacer

One of the most prominent names in this list of Bengal players who will be there on the IPL 2024 Auction, is Ishan Porel. The right hand medium pacer has been around the Indian cricket team circuit for long now. The 25-year old pacer from Chandannagar won the U-19 World Cup in 2018 along with Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw.

He has already played for the Kings XI Punjab in 2021 season in Dubai. Although he had played only one game, he was successful of getting rid of Sanju Samson in that game against Rajasthan Royals.

With a decent white ball season for Bengal, and obviously with Sourav Ganguly being there in the Delhi Capitals camp, fans can certainly hope that Ishan might be backed by Delhi franchise and will be picked by them in IPL 2024 auction. Along with them, teams like SRH and PBKS will be looking for some uncapped Indian pacers. So, there's high chance that Ishan gets a bid for him on the 19th.

20 lakhs INR is the base price for Ishan Porel in the auction.

Abhimanyu Easwaran | Righ-hand batter

Abhimanyu Easwaran will be looking to get his first IPL contract during IPL 2024 Auction.
Abhimanyu Easwaran will be looking to get his first IPL contract during IPL 2024 Auction.

Abhimanyu Easwaran has been appearing on the list for many years now. Although the right hand batter has been continuously playing for India-A teams and doing well there, franchises never shown enough interest on him as a T20 batter.

Easwaran is predominately a player for long-format but he has appeared for Bengal in the shortest format of the game as well. With him being all-around the Indian team sector, it will be interesting to see if any team shows interest in him at the top of the order for IPL 2024.

The top-order batter is listed in set no 15 and has a base price of 20 lakhs INR.

Sudip Gharami | Right-hand batter

Next on the set no 15 in the IPL 2024 Auction list form Bengal is Sudip Gharami. The current Bengal captain has been in tremendous form in last two seasons for Bengal. The right-hand top order batter was given the opportunity to lead the Bengal team as well this season.

Last season, SRH had a great look at Sudip Gharami and he had given trials for KKR as well along with Abhimanyu Easwaran. With a 61.54 List-A average and 127.38 strike rate in the T20s, Gharami can surely be looked in as a player at the top of the order for teams looking for uncapped Indian batters.

The 24-year old batter has a base price of 20 lakhs INR.

Shashank Singh | Right-hand batter

The young 19-year old top order batter from Bengal is one of the future prospects for sure. He scored lots of runs while playing for the U-19 team and now playing for the Bengal U-23 team. A gutsy batter who does not go away from a fight, can be great for teams who like to cater young talents into their team

Although, there is very less chance for him to be picked in a mini-auction like this, but, you never know what the scouts are looking at in IPL.

He is also listed under set no.15 and has a base price of 20 lakhs INR.

Writtick Chatterjee | All-rounder

Along with Ishan Porel, Writtick Chatterjee is the only player on this list who has an IPL experience. Although he did not got any chance to showcase his talent, the off-spinning all-rounder was with the PBKS franchise in 2021 season.

Writtick has always been good with the limited opportunities he got in Bengal. A right-hand middle-order batter who can play any role given to him, can certainly be a choice many franchises are looking for at the moment. Moreover, he has got a range of shots too, with the tight off-spin he brings on the table.

Fans from Bengal certainly put a bet on him as teams might look for uncapped all-rounders who can be good with both bat and ball. Chatterjee will come in slot number 16 and has a base price of 20 lakhs INR.

Kaif is a medium pacer and also can donk the ball long whenever needed for his team. He debuted for Bengal in the 2023 Vijay Hazare Trophy and did quite well for them as well.

As an uncapped all-rounder, he will be there on the list in No.16 slot and has a base price of 20 lakhs INR.

Kaushik Maity | All-rounder

With IPL teams always looking for exciting young talents, Maity can surely catch some of their eyes.

He is sloted in slot no. 16 with a base price of 20 lakhs INR.

After that, the franchise that made the winning bid will be given another opportunity to raise the bid to whatever amount they wish. In that case, the player's previous team will have to match the increased bid to buy back their player. Here are the eligible RTM options for each team: CSK: 1 (One capped or uncapped) RCB: 3 (One uncapped and two capped/ three capped) SRH: 1 (One uncapped) MI: 1 (One uncapped) DC: (One capped and one uncapped/ two capped) RR: None available. How will the bidding work?
A.
The Mega auction will have 5 phases: 1. Marquee Players: Top players will be divided into 2 groups of 6 and auctioned. 2. Capped Players: Experienced players will be auctioned by specialization (batters, all-rounders, wicket-keeper batters, fast bowlers, spin bowlers). 3. Uncapped Players: New players will be auctioned by specialization. 4. Accelerated Phase 1: Players 117-574 will be auctioned quickly. 5. Accelerated Phase 2: Unsold players from the full list will be auctioned quickly.
Q.

A.
Every squad must have minimum 18 players and the maximum size of a squad is of 25 players. A total of 46 players have already been retained by the ten franchises which keeps 204 slots vacant for the franchises and the slots will be filled up in the Auction. On the other hand, every team can have 8 overseas players at maximum. CSK: 20 slots (7 overseas) RCB: 22 slots (8 overseas) SRH: 20 slots (5 overseas) MI: 20 slots (8 overseas) DC: 21 slots (7 overseas) RR: 19 slots (7 overseas) PBKS: 23 slots (8 overseas) KKR: 19 slots (6 overseas) GT: 20 slots (7 overseas) LSG: 20 slots (7 overseas)
Q.
Is there any Right-to-match option at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction? If yes then how will it work?
A.
The IPL teams had permit to retain six players at most– where 5 players at most can be capped and maximum of 2 can be uncapped. The six players could be bought by retaining ahead of the auction or the franchises can use the RTM option to buy the player. The RTM option will work like this: if a player is about to be bought by another franchise rather than the franchise he played for in IPL 2024, the player's previous franchise can join in the end of the bidding process and buy back the players using the RTM option, but they will need to match the highest bid. PBKS: 4 (Four capped) KKR: None available. GT: 1 (One capped) LSG: 1 (One capped)
