Yuzvendra Chahal is the most successful spinner in IPL history till now, followed by the veterans Piyush Chawla and Amit Mishra in the list. We often discuss that T20 is a game of batsmen and it is a game of hitting monstrous sixes all around. Fast bowlers who have a lot of variations like traditional yorkers, knuckleball, and good slower balls can be successful.

But over the years, spinners have emerged in the game of IPL, and we have seen players like Sunil Narine, Piyush Chawla, and Amit Mishra also being successful over the years. Interestingly, Yuzvendra Chahal is not only the highest wicket-taking spinner in the history of IPL, but he also possesses the best average among the others. He is now joined highest wicket-taker in IPL history having equal wickets with Dwayne Bravo.

Chahal has been consistent throughout the recent years of IPL. Though he hasn't been that much successful in his international matches still he is in the top of the list of most wicket-taking spinners of the IPL. Last year he was the highest wicket-taker of the IPL and took 27 wickets in 17 matches with a decent average of 19.51 and an economy rate of nearly 8.

His variations with the ball have been very successful and the batsman fails to pick the ball and gives their wicket most of the time. In IPL history Chahal took 183 wickets altogether with an economy rate of 7.65 and an average of 21.6. He started his IPL career in 2013 and played for Mumbai Indians, RCB & Rajasthan Royals. His career-best strike rate was 12.2 in the 2015 season. He is now the joined highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL, with an equal no of wickets with Dwayne Bravo.

Piyush Chawla is the second-best spinner of all time in history in the IPL. Chawla took 174 wickets in 174 innings with a strike rate of 20.16 and his average is 26.32. Chawla started his IPL career very early than the others on this list. He made his IPL debut in 2008 and played four franchises altogether. He is having one of the most successful IPL seasons this year and he is the prime spinner of Mumbai Indians. He is now fourth highest wicket-taker in IPL 2023 with 17 wickets on his name in 11 matches. In this long-time career, he is one of the leading wicket-takers in the history of IPL just after Yuzvendra Chahal.

Amit Mishra is the third most successful spinner of all time in history in the IPL. He took 172 wickets in his 160 appearances of the IPL and his economy rate is also very good at 7.34. Last he played in IPL 2021 and was unsold in the 2022 season of IPL. In 2023 he was picked up by Lucknow Super Giants. He picked up Kohli's wicket last night when both the RCB openers were in a destructive mood and provided a much-needed breakthrough for his team.

#4 Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravi Ashwin is the fourth spinner in the list and the first among the off-spinners who has been successful in IPL. He added 171 wickets to his name with a decent economy rate. He has been successful in the early years of CSK and is also one of the prior bowlers in the Delhi Capitals. His carrom ball is one of the vital assets in powerplay overs to dismiss the top orders of the opponent. Ashwin's economy rate is 2nd best after Narine. He is also a very useful spinner in powerplays of IPL. In his career, he took 51 wickets in 122 innings with a decent economy of 6.61 

#5 Sunil Narine

Sunil Narine is the 2nd off-spinner to include in this list. He played superbly in each season for KKR and took crucial wickets. He is the most economical bowler on this list with an economy rate of 674. Narine took 159 wickets altogether in 157 innings with an average of 25.89 and a 23.02 strike rate. His tricky off-spin deliveries are still a nightmare for many batsmen and he is hard to hit at any time of the match. Narine also has the most no 4 wicket hauls(7) in IPL history in this list.
