Delhi Capitals' (DC) wait for their first victory of the season got extended. Their hopes were shattered by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the RCB vs DC, IPL 2023 clash in Bengaluru on Saturday. Chasing an easy total of 175, Delhi got off to a dreadful start after their spinners helped them restrict RCB to 174/6. The team lost Prithvi Shaw and Mitchell Marsh for 0 before Mohammed Siraj trapped Yash Dhull LBW for 1. David Warner got off to a start but could only manage 19 before being removed by Vijaykumar. Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their momentum after a fiery start

Delhi Capitals won the toss & decided to bowl first. Virat Kohli & skipper Faf du Plessis started the proceedings for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Once again RCB got a brilliant start. Virat Kohli started with back-to-back boundaries as RCB scored 11 in the first over. Faf smashed the first six of the match in the fourth over.

Mitchell Marsh came into the attack and Virat welcomed him with a boundary. Faf du Plessis hit the medium pacer for a four, before being caught by Aman Kumar at short mid-wicket, who made a difficult catch look very simple. RCB lost their first wicket at the score of 42 in the fifth over. Lalit Yadav came to bowl the final powerplay over and gave just four runs.

Virat, Lomror & Maxwell handled the middle overs

Kuldeep got a caught-and-bowl opportunity against Kohli, which was put down by the spinner in the ninth over. Mustafizur came into the attack and Kohli welcomed him with a boundary. The former skipper then hit the seamer for a six and then brought up his 50 in just 33 balls. Lomror finished the over with another six as 19 runs came off the 10th over.

Lalit Yadav came to bowl the 11th over and he got rid of Virat Kohli with a full toss. Kohli tried to send the ball across the rope but found Yash Dhull deep in the boundary. He departed for 50(34) with six fours & 1 six. He scored his third half-century in four matches of IPL 2023. Glenn Maxwell started from where he left the last match and he dispatched Lalit Yadav for two huge sixes. 

Three wickets in three deliveries changed the course of the RCB inning

Mitchell Marsh rejoined the attack and dismissed Lomror for 26. RCB lost their third wicket for 117 runs. Bangalore then lost three wickets in three deliveries. Axar Patel sent Harshal Patel home for 6 runs. Kuldeep then dismissed Maxwell (24) & Dinesh Karthik (0) in the next over. Delhi restricted the run rate by picking up quick wickets.

Sarfaraz Ahmed played a good cameo of 20 runs in 12 deliveries. He remained not out alongside the impact player Anuj Rawat who couldn't show his impact. Royal Challengers Bangalore put up 174 in 20 overs, which is considerably a low score in Bangalore.

RCB vs DC: Match Report

A dreadful start of DC gave the upper hand to RCB

The team lost Prithvi Shaw and Mitchell Marsh for 0 before Mohammed Siraj trapped Yash Dhull LBW for 1. David Warner got off to a start with four boundaries but could only manage 19 before being removed by the debutant, Vijaykumar. Delhi only managed to score 30 runs in the powerplay after loosing four huge wickets. The struggle continues for Shaw & the top order of Delhi.

The Bengal youngster Porel also couldn't contribute more than 5 runs. Manish Pandey showed positive intent right from the start after his arrival on the pitch. Axar Patel also started well and it looked like, he might recreate the inning he played against Mumbai in the previous game. It was Vijay Kumar, the debutant who broke DC's dream by taking him off the pitch for 21 runs in 14 deliveries.

Manish Pandey fought alone and scored his first half-century of the season in 37 deliveries. Although Hasaranga sent him home in the next delivery for lbw.

Aman Khan (18) & Nortje (23*) tried their best with some boundaries but it was too late for Delhi. Vyshak Vijay Kumar had a dream debut as he picked up 3 wickets in his 4-over spell for 20 runs. Siraj returned with 4-23-2 as RCB restricted DC to 151/9 after the end of 20 overs and won the match by 23 runs.
