Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has stated that the venue for the 2021 T20 World Cup will basically be their home since they’ve played in the UAE for over ten years now. He also stated that the team is looking forward to the matches lined up for them in the coming months.

The ICC mega-event will start on October 17 with the qualifiers taking place in Oman. Following the qualifiers, the group stages start in the UAE. After the announcement of the schedule for the same, Babar spoke about the team’s plans going forward. The top-order batsman said that he is looking forward to leading Pakistan in the showpiece tournament.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 schedule announcement brings us one step forward in our preparations for this much-awaited global tournament.” We will utilise the build-up period by playing in home series against New Zealand and England and will not only aim to fine-tune our final outlook but also win as many matches as possible so that we can carry that winning form and momentum to the United Arab Emirates,” he said.

Considering Pakistan will play in what is basically their home ground, they will feel confident about their chances. Pakistan is currently at ourth in the ICC rankings. However, Babar stated they are high on confidence having beaten top sides before. If they win the World Cup, they will be the first team from their country to win a major ICC event.
