New Zealand is no liner under the radar as they beat India to win their first major ICC trophy in recent years. New Zealand is now the first-ever ICC World Test Champions. As these last two years of test cricket saw some great batting skills around the globe, we found some astonishing WTC stats for every batsman. Let's take you through every player on our list of most runs in the World Test Championship.

1. Marcus Labuschagne- 1675 runs

Marcus Labuschagne, the Australian batsman is currently the highest run-scorer in the World Test Championship. Australia might be the 4th ranked test cricket team in WTC but the leading scorer is from this country itself. Labuschagne played a total of 23 innings where he smashed 5 centuries and 9 half-centuries with an average of 72.82. He also holds the record of most number of centuries and half centuries according to the WTC stats.

2. Joe Root- 1660 runs

The test captain of the England cricket team holds the second spot for scoring the most number of runs according to the WTC stats. In 37 innings, he scored 1660 runs including 8 half-centuries and 3 centuries, and 2 double centuries. He has an average of 47.42 in the World Test Championship. This double century is his World Test Championship career's first double century and the fourth of his Test career.

3. Steve Smith- 1341 runs

Steve Smith is considered to be the best Test batsman presently. He made a great comeback after his one-year ban and played extraordinarily to be at the third position on this list. Smith played outstandingly in the Ashes 2019. He scored a century right after his comeback in Ashes against England. Overall, he has scored 1341 runs including 7 half-centuries and 4 centuries with an average of 63.85 in 22 innings.

4. Ben Stokes – 1334 runs

The all-rounder of the England Cricket team smashed quite a few bowlers in the WTC to be on this list. He aggregated 1334 runs in 32 innings with an average of 46. Two of his most memorable knocks according to the WTC stats is 135* in the Ashes 2019 at Headingley and his highest score of 176 against West Indies in 2020. Overall, he smashed 4 centuries and 7 fifties and maide it to te total of 1334 runs.

5. Ajinkya Rahane – 1159 runs

The fifth rank holder on this list is the Vice-captain of the Indian Test team, Ajinkya Rahane. He is also the highest run-scorer from the Indian cricket team in the WTC 2019-21. This middle-order batsman scored a total of 1159 runs in 30 innings with an average of 42.92. He also holds the records of being the first Indian cricketer who crossed the barrier of 1000 runs in this Championship. His total run in the WTC includes 6 half-centuries and 3 centuries. However, he would have liked to contribute more with the bat in the World Test Championship final.

6. Rohit Sharma- 1094 runs

Rohit Sharma, the Indian opener, played an innings of only 19 innings where he smashed 2 half-centuries and 4 centuries. He was a vital part of this tournament like always and helped the team to win matches and reach the final. His overall score is 1094 runs with an average of 60.77. Hitman also scored his career's best score in this Championship of 212 runs against South Africa in Ranchi.

7. Dimuth Karunaratne- 999 runs

The Sri-Lankan Test Cricket team was nowhere close to get qualified for the ICC World Test Championship but one of their batsmen single-handedly scored good runs for the team and shone out among all. The player is none other than Dimuth Karunatane who scored a total of 999 runs in 18 innings with an average of 55.50. He smashed 4 half-centuries, 4 centuries, and 1 double century with his highest score in this tournament to be 244 runs against Bangladesh. He is definitely one of the most consistent players of the ICC World Test Championship where he batted for 698 minutes straight to score his double century.

Jos Buttler, one of the most significant player of the England Cricket team yet again proved his importance in the World Test Chamionship. He has played in 31 innings in which he hit 14 sixes, 4 half-centuries, and 1 century. His overall score is 963 runs with the highest score of 152 and an average of 33.20.

The former captain of the Australian cricket team played like a visual treat in the ICC World Test Championship. This dynamic player is the highest individual scorer in the tournament with an unbeatable score of 335 against Pakistan. He smashed a total of 948 runs in 22 innings including 1 half-century and 3 centuries with an average of 62.40.

The captain of the Pakistan cricket team is one of the best captains in the World Test Championship on the basis of their performances. He is the highest run scorer of Pakistan with 932 runs in 17 innings with an average of 66.57. He smashed 5 half-centuries and 4 centuries in the tournament.
