Man United vs Crystal Palace: Match Preview

Manchester United have struggled to hit the heights of the 2022/23 season in the early days of the new campaign. The Red Devils have been vulnerable at the back while having a non-existent midfield at times. But the last two games have provided cause for optimism, with Erik ten Hag's men beating Burnley and Crystal Palace.

Speaking of Crystal Palace, the Eagles have blown hot and cold thus far this term. They have won two, drawn two, and lost two of their six Premier League games. Roy Hodgson has done a decent job in the ongoing campaign, inspiring solid performances from his players.

Manchester United cruised to a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup third round earlier this week.

Erik ten Hag was able to welcome a number of players back to the starting 11 against Crystal Palace on Tuesday like Sofyan Amrabat, Mason Mount and Raphael Varane. There is a very real chance that all three of them will start on Saturday.

Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund will presumably all come back into the starting XI, with only Hojlund seeing any minutes on Tuesday. A number of players remain out of action such as Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, while Sergio Reguilon, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Scott McTominay could come back into contention on Saturday.

Crystal Palace:

There were plenty of injuries for Roy Hodgson to think about coming into the Carabao Cup game, with Michael Olise, Matheus Franca, Jefferson Lerma, James Tomkins and Naouirou Ahamada all missing out on that clash with injuries.

With the next game coming so soon afterwards, Hodgson will have plenty of issues to continue to deal with. The likes of Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze are expected to come back into the starting lineup as they were benched in the cup.
