The Premier League has been a cradle of future football stars from the beginning. From Cristiano Ronaldo, Frank Lampard, John Terry and Eric Cantona to Mohamed Salah, Didier Drogba and others, the Premier League has been a league that has made many young prodigies into legends of the game. With the Premier League 2024-25 season already giving a few new names on the block, Sportz Point tried to name a few Premier League's rising stars in 2024.
The Premier League’s Rising Stars in 2024
Ethan Nwaneri (Arsenal)
Regarded as one of the best-ever academy players of Arsenal, Ethan Nwaneri became the youngest Premier League player ever when he made his debut against Brentford in September 2022 at 15 years and 181 days old.
However, after that historic debut, he played only 13 more minutes for the senior team till now. But after a solid pre-season, Mikel Arteta will surely be looking to give more minutes to the youngster now.
The versatile midfielder impressed each and everyone with an eye-catching pre-season while providing an assist against Manchester United in the USA. He is now expected to be more on the team sheet this season after Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira left the Gunners. With more opportunities coming in for him, he can be one of the rising stars of the Premier League 2024.
Toby Collyer (Manchester United)
After what happened with Kobe Mainoo, we can safely say that if Erik Ten Hag chooses one young player, there is obviously something special about him. Toby Collyer was given a speech by the Manchester United boss following their FA Cup final win against Manchester City.
Toby plays as a typical number eight who loves to be on both sides of the pitch while picking up the ball from the defence and pushing it to the final third. The midfielder was seen performing well in the pre-season and even captained the team against Rosenborg.
After a great pre-season, we can see him making his debut for the senior team in a competitive match and being on the pitch for the Red Devils more this season.
James McAtee (Manchester City)
The 21-year-old central midfielder had to find his way by going to Sheffield United on loan to prove his mettle. In the last two seasons with Sheffield United, James McAtee scored 27 times and was one of the best players for Paul Heckingbottom’s team.
However, just like the entire Sheffield United team, James had a tough time last season in the Premier League. Though he managed only three goals and three assists in the 30 games, he created the second most chances for the team in the entire season.
Before the season, Pep Guardiola had some great things to say about the youngster and featured in the dying minutes of Manchester City’s first home game of the season in a 4-1 win against Ipswich Town.
"He can play in the small spaces in the pockets. I think he grew up in terms of physicality and has played for a team fighting relegation and when you do this you get something special," Pep said before the season.
Mikey Moore (Tottenham Hotspur)
The 17-year-old winger is said to be one of the most perming youngsters in England at the moment. Moore has been in the Spurs' Academy since the under-9s and came through the ranks with some great performances. Last year, he even went on to become the youngest Tottenham Hotspur player to play in the Premier League when he made his senior debut as a substitute against Manchester City, aged 16 years and 277 days only.
In the Under-17 European Championship, Mikey showed what he could do with the ball and what a special player he is. Though England crashed out for the tournament and the quarter-finals, Mikey had the second-most goal involvement (5) with four goals and an assist in four games.
Spurs fans will be helpful to see the youngster shining under Ange Postecoglou.
Spurs confirm Mikey Moore has signed his first professional contract with the club after turning 17 on Sunday.

Trey Nyoni (Liverpool)
Trey is another England under-17 star who would go on and easily break some records in the future. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder, who was signed from Leicester City last summer, has shown great potential in the pre-season in the USA, which saw many Liverpool stars on international duty.
Trey impressed each and everyone in the United States and even went on to score in a 4-1 win over Sevilla in a friendly match in the pre-season at Anfield.
He featured for the senior team in the FA Cup match against Southampton last year, becoming the youngest player to feature in the tournament for Liverpool, aged 16 years and 243 days only.
Though Trey has been doing great for the Liverpool U-21 team in Premier League 2, he was not named in the Liverpool squad for the first two games of the season. It would be interesting to see if Arne Slot sends the youngster on loan to have more games under his belt before he comes back to the Premier League.

Omari Hutchinson (Ipswich Town)
The 20-year-old Jamaican international winger has been in the news since his early teen days for some viral social media videos of him.
After a stunning season on loan with Ipswich Town, where he scored ten goals and assisted six times to help them get back to the Premier League after 22 years, Hutchinson now has signed a record-breaking £18m deal with the club.
After spending a few hard times with Charlton Athletic, Arsenal and Chelsea, it might be Hutchinson’s time to shine in the Premier League.

Josh Acheampong (Chelsea)
Finally, a defender on the list. Josh Acheampong is already wanted by Real Madrid and PSG and is rated as one of the prospects for the national team. The 18-year-old central defender, who can play as a full-back and also as a win-back, joined Chelsea’s development centre as an under-8 player and has been there with the Blues since then.
Josh's skill to play at any position in the back has helped him come up the ranks quickly and then went on to feature for England at the U-16, U-17 and U-18 levels. Josh featured for England in the U-17 European championship last year, followed by a solid performance in the U-17 FIFA World Cup in November.
Meantime, he also featured heavily for the Chelsea U-18 team and also made a few appearances for the Under-21 team before making his debut last season in May in a 2-1 win over Tottenham at home.
After featuring for the senior team in the pre-season in the United States, Josh is expected to get more games under Mauricio Pochettino.

Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa)
Morgan Rogers is already a name buzzing in the Premier League after his sensational performance for Aston Villa against Arsenal in their first home game of the season. Although Vila suffered a 0-2 defeat, Morgan impressed everyone with his speed, agility, and strength.
The 21-year-old winger joined Aston Villa in January this season after netting seven goals and providing nine assists in 33 appearances for Middlesburg across all competitions. He was also the top scorer of the Carabao Cup last season with five goals.
After joining Unai Emery’s team, Rogers scored three goals and provided an assist in the 11 Premier League matches for Villa.
With his strength and desire to go on the attack and make himself available at the right time, he is certainly the player to watch out for in the Premier League 2024. If he stays fit, he will surely be one of the Premier League’s rising stars in 2024.
Yankuba Minteh (Brighton)
The Gambian winger joined Brighton & Hove Albion from Newcastle United after a successful spell on loan at the Dutch side Feyenoord. The 21-year-old talent was one of the most emerging talents in the Dutch League, where he scored ten goals and provided six assists in 27 league appearances.
In his first two appearances for the Seagulls, Minteh has shown his speed on the flanks and provided an important assist in a 3-0 win against Everton. Then he followed up with a solid show against Manchester United in a 2-1 win at their home. Minteh has a great desire to run with the ball and then get inside the final third to create chaos in the minds of defenders.
With Brighton having a young coach like Fabian Hurzeler, we can expect Minteh to have the freedom and guidance to come up as one of the rising stars of the Premier League in 2024.

How Premier League Clubs are Nurturing Talents
Having talented young players is one thing and then developing them into future future superstars is another thing. Most of the Premier League clubs have their own development programmes and academies which play a great role in making or breaking a young player.
Premier League clubs like Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Chelsea have great U-18 and U-21 set up for the upcoming players. Since the 2012/13 season, Manchester City won the U-18 Premier League four times, while Chelsea won twice and Manchester United won the latest season. Manchester City found success in the Premier League 2 (U-21) as well, winning the Divison 1 league last three seasons.
Young players who are not getting chances in the senior team have to perform in these leagues to prove to the coaches that they are ready for the bigger stages. Moreover, the academy players generally get their chances to be in and around the senior team and the head coach always keeps an eye on those players who are performing in the U-18s and U-21s like Kobe Mainoo did for Manchester United last season.
The Future of the Premier League
All the players listed on the "Premier League’s Rising Stars in 2024", will have to go through a tough season of football to become the future of the league. Players like Yankuba Minteh have already proved their mettle in the other league, but the Premier League is a different ball game.
Hutchinson and McAtee have proved themselves by playing in the Championships and now will have to keep pushing them to another level to be the future stars.
Head coaches of these Premier League clubs will also play a big role with players Trey Nyoni and Mikey Moore likely to be sent to other clubs on loan. This move sometimes shatters the dreams of young players but also provides them with an opportunity to have more game time which can be effective to make a return to the home team.
