Kevin Trapp | Goal-Keeper | Eintracht Frankfurt
Although Frankfurt conceded two goals, Trapp made it really hard for them. He was the standout player for Frankfurt against the dangerous Napoli Team. He made 9 saves in the match, 6 saves from the inside-the-box shots. Kevin also stopped Khvicha's penalty otherwise the score would be 3-0.
Min-Jae Kim & Giovanni Di Lorenzo | Defenders | Napoli
Min-Jae has been excellent since joining Napoli. He once again proved his worth in the 1st Leg of RO16 against Frankfurt. He was almost everywhere on the pitch. Kim made 7 important clearances, 5 tackles, and 1 interception. He won 5 out of 5 aerial duels & 7 out of 9 ground duels.
Skipper Di Lorenzo is one of the reasons behind Napoli's epic season. He covered the whole right side of the pitch and helped his team both in attacking and defensive parts. Lorenzo made 3 clearances and blocked 1 shot. He won 2 aerial and 4 ground duels against Frankfurt. The skipper put the cherry on the top of the cake by scoring the second goal in quite some style and secured the team of the week right-back spot.
Josko Gvardiol | Defender | RB Leipzig
The Croatian 21 years old Wall is making headlines almost every week. Gvardiol scored the equalizer in the 70th minute and kept hope for his team for qualification to the next round. He kept Haaland away from the goal. He may seem not too shiny on paper but he did a fantastic job on the pitch.
Nacho Fernandez | Defender | Real Madrid
Nacho came as a sub in the 27th minute replacing Alaba and made the defense line more steady against the Liverpool side. He made 4 clearances, 4 interceptions, and two tackles. He also won 3 ground duels and 1 aerial duel during his 63 minutes on the pitch.
Vinicius Jr. | Left Winger/Left Midfielder | Real Madrid
Vini Jr. was the best player in the Liverpool vs Real Madrid match. He scored two goals, gave one assist, and won 7 ground duels for Real Madrid. Vinicius ruled the left side of the pitch.
Mohamed Salah | Right Winger/Right Midfielder | Liverpool
Although Liverpool lost their game, Salah looked quite good. He provided a brilliant assist to Nunez which helped Liverpool to take the early lead. Salah scored the second goal and gave an upper hand to Liverpool. They lost the opportunity and Real Madrid turned around the match. Salah won 5 ground duels and tried to help his team in both ways.
Hirving Lozano | Right Winger/Midfielder | Napoli
Lozano did play brilliantly in the match against Frankfurt. He provided the assist, hit the woodwork one time, won 4 ground duels, and attempted 4 successful dribbles during his 80 minutes on the pitch. He will be a must needed player for the Napoli side in the Second Leg.
Riyad Mahrez | Right Winger/Midfielder | Manchester City
Riyad Mahrez scored the only City goal in the match against Leipzig. He was the best player on the pitch that night among the two sides. Mahrez provided 5 key passes, 4 crosses, and 1 long ball, won 5 ground duels, and successfully attempted 2 dribbles. He will be essential for City in the second leg.
Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) & Victor Osimhen (Napoli) | Forwards
Karim Benzema knows how to perform on the biggest stages. He scored two goals and also provided one assist in the match against Liverpool. His link-up with Vinicius was a treat for the eyes. No wonder he secured one of two spots for the Forward position in the team of the week.
Osimhen is on a different level at this moment. He is scoring for fun in the Serie A & UCL. Osimhen scored the first goal and almost got his second but it was ruled out offside. He created xG of 1.03, won 3 ground and 2 aerial duels, and also won the penalty.
