Brazil vs Chile: Match Preview:

Brazil:

Brazil will be looking to keep the perfect record on home soil in this World Cup Qualifying term on Thursday evening when they host Chile in the penultimate round of the competition.

Selecao have secured the qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar long time ago as they have cruised past their rivals to a brilliant record of 12 wins and 3 draws in 15 outings so far. Tite's troops have been especially impressive in their own backyard where they have won all seven matches so far with a surreal goal difference of 19-1 in the process.

The Brazilians destroyed Paraguay 4-0 on the home patch in the previous round to end a two-draw run (to second-placed Argentina and third-placed Ecuador). Raphinha, Coutinho, Antony, and Rodrygo were on target for Tite's squad on the occasion. The Brazilian have conceded only five goals so far in the campaign and they will be a very tough nut to crack for Chile as well on Thursday.

Chile:

The visitors are having a disappointing run in this qualifying term. They will hardly book a ticket to Qatar 2022 with the fixtures against the likes of Brazil and Uruguay remaining.

Chile are sixth at the moment, sitting three points shy of fourth-placed Uruguay and two points below Peru in fifth. Martin Lasarte's men did manage back-to-back away wins over Paraguay and Bolivia in the previous two away fixtures but these results will count for little when they come across the Brazilians here.

Team News:

Brazil:

Brazil have a strong squad. Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, veteran Barcelona right-back Dani Alves, Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva, Aston Villa midfielder Philippe Coutinho and Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar have all been named.

Young stars like Ajax's Antony and Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior have been lighting up their respective leagues, and have been named. There could be a potential debut for Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli.

Chile:

Chile do not lack experience. Real Betis goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, Bologna centre-back Gary Medel, the Inter Milan duo of Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez, Flamengo right-back Mauricio Isla and Atletico Mineiro attacker Eduardo Vargas all boast more than 100 caps for the national team. There could be a potential debut for Universidad de Chile striker Ronnie Fernandez.

Brazil vs Chile: Head to Head:

In 74 head-to-head encounters between the two sides, Brazil hold the clear advantage. They have won 53 games, lost eight and drawn 13.

The two countries last faced each other last year, with Brazil beating Chile 1-0. A second-half goal from Flamengo midfielder Everton Ribeiro ensured victory for Brazil.
