The 22 years old Erling Haaland is breaking records for fun. Since, his arrival at the RB Salzberg, he has shown a glimpse of his destruction, and after joining Manchester City, He is showing his true potential. The Manchester City forward has been rewriting record books since he announced himself in the competition with a first-half hat-trick on his debut. Erling Haaland in the UEFA Champions League

Erling Haaland has scored 35 goals in just 27 UEFA Champions League appearances. He will write his own book of records in the process. Still, just 22 and in only his fourth campaign in the competition, the Norway striker is already 19th in the list of all-time Champions League scorers and has gone above the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Antoine Griezmann, Kaká, and Wayne Rooney. He is now within range of Edinson Cavani, Sergio Agüero, and Alessandro Del Piero.

Haaland made his Champions League debut at Salzburg in 2019. He became the first and so far only player to score a first-half hat-trick on his debut, in a 6-2 win against Genk. He scored in his first five appearances in the Champions League (a record eight goals in all), becoming only the third man to achieve the feat after Alessandro Del Piero and Diego Costa.

Haaland departed for Dortmund after the 2019/20 group stage. He struck two goals on his first Champions League appearance for the club. He took himself to double figures in the competition after a record seven games. Haaland has since set similar marks for 15 goals (12 matches), 20 goals (14), and, following his move to Manchester City in the summer of 2022, 25 goals (20), 30 goals (25), and 35 goals (27).

Group-Stage:

Manchester City started the campaign against Sevilla in which they scored 4 goals. Erling Haaland scored 2 goals on his debut for Manchester City in UEFA Champions League. Then City faced Dortmund on Matchweek 2. Haaland didn’t hesitate and scored a goal against his former club and Man City won the game by a 2-1 scoreline. They went on and defeated Copenhagen by a huge 5-0 scoreline. Haaland didn’t miss out on the golden opportunities and struck two in the back of the net.

The reverse fixtures of the Dortmund & Copenhagen matches ended with 0-0 scorelines. Manchester City then went on and defeated Sevilla by 3-1 and ended their Group stage on a high note. Haaland wasn’t playing the last match week against Sevilla.

Round Of 16:

Manchester City faced RB Leipzig in the Round of 16. The first leg ended with a 1-1 draw. Mahrez scored the only goal for Man City. The second leg was a whole different story. Haaland became only the third player to score five times in a UEFA Champions League match. He completed his hat trick in the first half and then struck more two in the second half. Leipzig were blown away from the Etihad after the Erling haaland storm.

Quarter-Final:

Manchester City faced the six times champions Bayern Munich in the Quarter-Final. In the first leg at Etihad, City almost secured their place at the semis. Then they played a draw at Munich and booked their tickets to the Semi-Final. Haaland scored in both venues and extended his goal tally to 12. He is currently the top scorer of the Champions League 2022/23 season.

Manchester City will face Real Madrid in the Final. Haaland will face arguably the best team in the Champions League. It will be an interesting sight when Haaland will play at the Santiago Bernabeu.
