Most importantly, Real Madrid have faced a rare defeat at the hands of Mallorca in La Liga while Bayern Munich have lost only two games in 43 matches across competition this season.
With two of the most successful teams in the history of the European competition, we can only expect a thrilling encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid tonight. Real Madrid will be without their star goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois while Bayern Munich are also missing a few star players in the line-up.

Here comes the final whistle at the Santiago Bernabeu and it is Bayern Munich who will head on to Munich for the second leg with a goal advantage to their name.
Luis Diaz with the opener for Bayern Munich and Harry Kane doubled the lead just at the start of the second half.
But as soon as Jude Bellingham came off the bench, the game looked different for Real Madrid. It was his vision and the assist from Trent Alexander-Arnold that helped Kylian Mbappe put one back for Real Madrid.
But it was 40-year-old Manuel Neuer, who made four saves against Mbappe to keep the score line in favour of Bayern Munich.
