US Open 2021: World No 1 Novak Djokovic ties Roger Federer's record with his 31st Grand Slam final

Novak Djokovic is rewriting history books one after another. The World No 1 defeated German Alexander Zverev 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 to enter the US Open 2021 final. Also making Djokovic 27-0 in major championships this season. Apart from keeping his bid for a calendar Grand Slam alive, the Serb also equaled Roger Federer's record with his 31^st grand Slam final. It will be Djokovic's record ninth US Open final.

This is the second time in Djokovic's career that he has reaches all four major finals in a calendar year. Although, having previously done so in 2015. Djokovic joins Federer (2006, 2007, 2009) as the only two men to have accomplished the feat multiple times in the Open Era. Australian great Rod Laver managed it once in the Open Era. When he won all four majors to complete the Calendar Grand Slam in 1969.

He has moved within one win of reaching a men's record 21 Grand Slam titles. However, he avenges his loss to Zverev at the Tokyo Olympics in front of a roaring crowd inside Arthur Ashe Stadium. And French Open in June and Wimbledon in July. And the 34-year-old from Serbia would collect his 21st Slam title in all, breaking the men's career mark he currently shares with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal
