Indian archer Prathamesh Jawkar won the individual menโs compound gold at the Archery World Cup 2023 stage 2 in Shanghai, China. After this, India ended its World Cup campaign with three medals.

19-year-old Jawkar defeated world No. 1 Mike Schloesser of the Netherlands 149-148 to top the podium in the individual menโs compound final. Jawkar beat Indonesiaโs Dhany Diva Pradana, Koreaโs Kim Jongho, Martin Damsbo of Denmark, and Choi Yonghee of Korea to reach the final after defeating Estoniaโs Robin Jaatma.
Earlier, 19-year-old Jyothi Surekha Vennam and 20-year-old Ojas Pravin Deotale earned Indiaโs second successive gold medal in the mixed-team event. The pair recently won the first stage of the Archery World Cup 2023 in Antalya. The Indian pair defeated the top-seeded Korean pair of Oh Yoohyun and Kim Jongho 156-155 in the final to secure their crown. Vennam and Deotale got byes in the first round. They defeated Bangladesh and Turkey to reach the semi-finals. In the last four, the pair defeated Italy before concluding their unbeaten campaign against Korea. For Prathamesh Jawkar, Ojas Pravin Deotale, and Avneet Kaur, it was their second appearance at anย Archeryย World Cup.
Meanwhile, Avneet Kaur won a bronze medal in the individual womenโs compound. The 18-year-old beat Turkeyโs Ipek Tomruk 147-144 in the bronze medal match after losing to Great Britainโs Ella Gibson in the semi-finals. Indiaโs campaign at the Archery World Cup 2023, however, came to an end on Saturday as none of the recurve archers made it to the medal round. Indiaโs recurve menโs team of Atanu Das, Dhiraj Bommadevara, and Neeraj Chauhan was ousted in the quarter-finals. In the individual menโs recurve event, Tarundeep Rai, Atanu Das and Neeraj Chauhan failed to progress beyond the first round. Dhiraj Bommadevara bowed out in the quarters.
