Indian team to face American pair in the Archery World Cup final
The Indian compound mixed team, ranked second in the world rankings, defeated Han Seungyeon and Yang Jaewon of the host country 158-157, losing only two points in 16 arrows. Now they will face America's Olivia Dean and Sawyer Sullivan.
Earlier, Jyothi and Priyansh had defeated Vietnam 159-152 in the round of 16. While in the quarter-finals, they ousted fifth seed Mexico by 156-155.
Compound women's team ensured first medal
The compound women's team had already reached the finals on Wednesday itself. Jyothi, Parneet Kaur, and Aditi Swami had ensured India's first medal. They will now face world number seven Turkey in the gold medal match on Saturday. In the second semi-final, Turkey defeated South Korea 234-233.
The Indian trio had won the gold medal in the Archery World Cup Stage-1 in Shanghai last month.
Recurve team returned empty handed
The recurve mixed team of Deepika Kumari and Tarundeep Rai had to return empty handed as they lost 2-6 to Spain in the quarter-finals. They have more than 34 years of combined international experience in between them.
Having qualified as second seed, the pair lost to 10th seeded Spain 2-6 (33-37, 36-38, 39-34, 34-36) following a miserable start. They shot in the red-ring twice (7 and 8) to drop seven points in the first set and went on to lose the second set too.
From 0-4 down, they won the third but they continued their inconsistent run as the Spaniards sealed it in the fourth set.
Recurve archers are already out of the Archery World Cup medal race in the team category. The individual round matches will start in the afternoon.
